After you get your meta tag from google search console, you need to install a very specific plugin called "insert headers and footers". Once you see it, click install now. Next click "activate plugin". Once installed, go back to google where you got your meta tag, copy it, and then go back to the "insert headers and footers" plugin where you can then paste the meta tag into the "scripts in headers" box. Then click "save settings".

Hi there, thanks for this , that is really helpful - once you have inserted the meta tag and got recognised by google analytics, can you then delete this from your headers section? thanks
