Importance Of CTR
The basic importance or relevance of this metric is that the higher your click-through rate, the better the success of your advert, email campaign or even the website as a whole. It goes to tell you that your content is doing well and aligns with the desire of your target audience.
If the result is otherwise, I mean a low CTR. It simply tells you that you are not getting the desired result, as such there is a need to change your strategy. Something is wrong, so you are losing the audience. A lot could be wrong, you just av to investigate. You could be targeting a wrong audience or using a wrong image or even your statements are not well coordinated.
In whatever form of broadcast, you want to get a high CTR. The more clicks on your target link, the higher your Return on Investment (ROI). So the responsibility to monitor your content or ads rest on your shoulders and will go a long way to reduce waste in terms of your expenses.
How are impressions calculated?
Let me introduce another word – Impressions. Impressions refer to the frequency of display of your adverts. The impression is different from reach, while reach refers to the number of users that was contacted. Impression tells us the number of occurrence of the ads or campaign
Let me give you a basic example. If I have 10 users and my ads were shown to just 7, that implies that my reach is 7. But if 3 out of this 7, gets the ads 5 times and the other 4 get the ads 6 times, then my impression is 11. That is 5 +6 = 11
Now we have seen what CTRs are and how they are calculated. It is good we examine CTR in the various forms of marketing (email marketing, SEO and PPC).
