7. Write Unique Headlines
Five times as many more people read headlines than the content body on average.
Search and social are the most popular ways that people find content. They will likely choose the article’s title to decide what content they want to read.
This makes your headline the most important piece of content. You need to craft compelling headlines that grab people’s attention and make them want more.
But that doesn’t mean clickbait should be your only option. You just need to understand the power of headlines.
Here are some tips:
- Take a look at some of the most popular blogs and see how they create their headlines.
- Use templates. Many headlines are variations on proven formulas. Make sure you know what they are and how to use them.
- Use CoSchedule’s Headline Analyzer. Are you unsure if your writing is good enough? This tool is free and will help you determine if your writing is good.
8. Draft a Great Introduction
The headline should grab the reader’s attention and get them to read the first sentence. Your introduction should hook them and make them want to read the rest of the post.
If your introduction is too long, boring, or reads like an academic paper, you need to change. Let your readers know that you can explain the problem in a few sentences.
This will make your readers feel that you understand their struggles and relate to them.
Next, present your solution.
Tell them that you have the solution. So, explain the solution briefly but don’t reveal everything.
I have a long way to go & hopefully improve all the time.
