EXERCISE - CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS
1. Get a blank sheet of paper.
2. Draw a line down the middle.
3. At the top of the left side, write "THEN".
4. At the top of the right side, write "NOW".
5. In the "THEN" column, write three (3) thoughts/feelings about yourself.
6. Re-read each one carefully and with a red pen, put a "-" or "+" next to it if it is negative or positive accordingly.
7. If any are positive, re-write them on the right side.
8. Reframe the negative ones into positives.
(For example: "I am fat" can be rewritten as "I am on my way to my ideal weight".)
9. Tear the sheet of paper along the middle line and throw the left side (negatives) away.
10. Repeat each one on your "NOW" list, three (3) times.
Keep your "NOW" list at your bedside and read it aloud, three (3) times, each morning and before going to sleep, every day, for the next week.
We will check in at the end of next week, to share our progress.
When we continue along the 'story' that we are not good enough, we continue following that same belief.
There is power in the belief that WE CAN! The more we believe in ourselves that we CAN do something, the better we will feel about ourselves when we complete the task or goal we created.
