So ...

As I said, the technical gremlins are immortals ...

And restoring your site from a full backup copy could be really time-intensive. Sometimes, when you know what theme/plugin update caused the problem, it's easier to perform a simple rollback ...

There's an awesome plugin called WP Rollback, which will allow you to easily rollback your theme or plugin to any previous version you want.

After installing and activating the plugin simply check out your plugin list, and you'll notice a new "Rollback" link next to each plugin:

If you click it, you'll be able to select and re-install any previous version:

Cool, isn't it?

And that's it my friends!

Hi,
Thanks for the lesson.

My site are hosted by WA - aren't these backed up by WA? Why would I need to install the rollback? Thanks

just because WA does a daily backup doesn't mean you shouldn't. Never assume anything when it comes to safeguarding your business and be certain that you have your own backup just in case.

You can use me as an example of what not to do. I stepped away to take a break without keeping my site current or updates updated.

When I came back it was to a site that had been infected. Site support had only backups of the infected site and wasn't able to do anything.

But fortunately, I had a copy of my site stored to the computer that got me back up and going minus a couple of changes I had made.

keep an updated back up around Just In Case, it could mean losing nothing or losing everything!

Thanks Eric. The site is still in its infancy. I just went to to WP and backed it up (Tools-Export-All content).

At some point I will lean to back up themes too....

Thanks. K
