Anchor Link Variations

Okay, as you can see Google and other search engines want to see a variation in your anchor text backlinks. This simply shows a natural progression in grown and popularity of your website.

For example, you won't always see the following link for Wealthy Affiliate:

www.WealthyAffiliate.com

You may see:

http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com

OR

http://wealthyaffiliate.com

As you can see, there are very slight differences. But, these are each a variate of the hyper link.

Additionally, these are known as naked links, because there is no anchor text such as "Click Here" or "Read More"

Previously, I listed four examples of differing types of anchor text. Naked links is one - no anchor text.

But, another is Generic Anchor Text (backlinks).

Basically, the generic form is what you would think others would say when they talk about your wonderful website on a blog they own.

Let's say, someone creates a blog post about your website and urge THEIR readers to visit it. After they mention the wonderful features you have and how well your content is informative and has some fantastic resources, they simply might finish up with...."to read more about this awesome resource Click Here".

And, of course, they will link Click Here to your website. That's the anchor and because it's not one of your primary keywords, it's known as a GENERIC backlink or anchor text link.

So, as you can imagine, I could create a bunch of generic anchor text backlnks such as these:

  • Go Here
  • Find Out More
  • Check it out here

.... and so on

To further illustrate, it would appear on external pages with the HTML code like this:

<a href="http://www.yourwebsite.com">Click Here</a>
<a href="http://www.yourwebsite.com">Go Here</a>
<a href="http://www.yourwebsite.com">Read More</a>

And, in an actual post on an external website, you would only see the generic anchor showing after it page/post is published such as:

As you can see above, although the "Click Here" is a backlink to your website, it's very generic and NOT your chosen keywords.

But, the search engines realize that some folks that are talking about how fabulous your website is won't use your keywords. This is a "natural" appearing thing as it should be.

Cool! Let's move on!
