To wrap things up I just wanted to share a few other simple tips that you can do with Paint.

Drawing On The Image

The first thing here is adding shapes such as arrows or circles, seen here:

As you can see I even did a little freehand smiley face too.

In the image above I drew a circle around the various different shapes that you can use. To draw freehand just use the pencil or paintbrush icons and have at it.

Combine Two Images Into One

In one of my posts I wanted to show a before and after image side by side in one image. To do this I open up three Paint programs, two being the images I want to merge and one blank. Make sure that your blank page has a white box big enough to put both pictures in (grab the little boxes like we did in the cropping lesson).

Typically I will make the white box here over sized until I have my images in place and then I will crop it down.

Now lets go to our first image. You can either use the whole image or if you are really feeling creative you can select just a portion of an image. Today here I am just going to focus on using the whole image. So with your image open in Paint you just need to click on the Select icon. From there choose the Select All.

As you can see by the dotted line around my image I now have the whole thing selected. Now we just need to click on the Copy icon just to the left of Select or use Ctrl+C.

Then go to your Blank Paint and click the Paste icon or use Ctrl+V. This will drop the image onto the page and while it is still highlighted you can drag it around and position it where you want. In this case I am going to leave the first image where it pasted into the top left corner.

Now that I have my first image pasted it is time to repeat this first step with the second image. When you paste the second image it will plop it down right on top of the other. However all you have to do is grab it and drag it over to where you want it. After that, just crop out the extra white space and you have a finished product like this

Wrap Up

Well, those are my simple tips for using paint to take care of some of your basic image needs. You can definitely be creative along the way and experiment with some of the different options. Paint does a good job of keeping things simple and easy to use.

Please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them promptly.

Keep working it!

Thanks James. You have a much newer version of Paint than I do, but I may have to upgrade. I do most of my work with PhotoShop, but Paint loads up much faster, and for simple jobs like resizeing and cropping it would be the best tool to use. Thanks again.

Thanks Rick I appreciate your feedback. I know there are lots of other programs, but few are as simple and easy to use as Paint. I use Paint for the simple easy jobs and other tools for when I need to do more.

Thanks Chris. Funny part is I almost skipped that part and then remembered it at the last moment. First three comments here all pointed out the same thing.

You could do that in Gimp. It's OpenSource so it's free (works exactly as Photoshop) Also you could find a lot of tutorials how to use Gimp on YouTube. Hope that helps.
