1. A sudden drop in website traffic

If your Google Analytics suddenly indicates a drastic drop in website traffic, it could be an indication of an attack. Malware or Trojans could have attacked and directed your website traffic to spammy sites.

Google also could be warning your website users via its Google safe browsing tools about malware on your website. It will lead to a drop in website traffic. These indications are regular activities from browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera Mini. This warning differs from each other. They are generally dependent on what Google finds on your website.

Keep a watch on your Google Analytics and Google search console. They are a good indicator in terms of hacking.

2. Sudden multiple user accounts

If you run a membership program or you open your website for user registration, you can experience spam user accounts been created. You can delete without having to worry. If you did not open your website for users registration. And there is a sudden flow of new users created on your website. It may be signs of your account been hacked.

In most cases deleting these accounts might be difficult.

    3. Change in the outlook of your Homepage

It is easy to detect. It appears on your homepage. As such, it is easy to notice. In most cases, hackers do not want to be noticed. They stay away from it.

But some hackers replace the outlook of your homepage with their message. You can identify it and deal with it.

Great information, I guess there are some very resourceful people out there, being one step ahead is the difference between having a bit of a bad week to having a truly disastrous week.

      👍

I now have a folder in my Gmail menu that is purely for your training, the only other folder I have named is Nataniell’s, because like you the snippets are gold.

      Yes Cordelia,

We have to be steps ahead, and this will come from the right information. It will also help us protect our work from hackers and other miscreants out there.

I am highly challenged hearing that you created a folder for my pieces of training in your Gmail box. This is a challenge to do more and create informative content.
Also, it is an honour I do not take for granted.

      Thank you

      Hi Lew,
I appreciate that phrase "heads up information ". It is important we are always on our toes protecting that which is ours from fraudulent and malicious miscreants out there.

I am glad you found it engaging. Although a lot of us here are on WA hosting which is highly secured as I mentioned. But we need to be aware to watch out against these malicious elements activities.

These are good ways to check and see if your website is being hacked friend. Number 4 was a surprised to me. I didn't know that a hosting company can disable your website if they suspect spamming or hacking activities even though you are paying to have your website running. I guess I'm always learning something. Thanks for an informative post. All the best!

      Hi John,

I appreciate the time taken to see the training. Hosting companies do that to keep their servers free from Malware. This will also protect other client's website from getting affected.
