The first casualty I had was trying to find an interactive map plugin for the site. This would be used on about ten pages throughout the culmination.
I did find one (pictured above,) but this turned out to be a dud.
I want to supply an easy-to-use searching system for folks looking for practitioners in their states or providences. This site will serve both the United States and Canada. Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are not yet included, but will be later.
At this point, I'm not worried about the populating of this site with practitioners. I have a training program that will help me with that.
This plugin turned out to be totally useless to me. It only offers regional sections o the US and none of Canada.
I searched for an alternative. The only one I could come up with is a paid version of the one above with more bells and whistles, but no Canada nor the use of it independently over a number of pages of the site. It appears it can only be used in one place only. No good! Cost: $70.
I knew what was next and I didn't stop to ponder over it. I got to work immediately...
To engage in problem solving did not work here. I had to resort to finding a solution to make this work. Sometimes this works better, other times it doesn't. In this case, problem-solving entails finding another plugin. No dice!
A solution to the problem, unorthodox as it is, meant to MAKE one myself using what I know about code and the resources I have at hand.
You have definitely accomplished what you set out with this motivational lesson.
Brilliant job.
I'm grateful you shared this. Obstacles will eventually cross our paths along this IM journey; your story serves as an inspiration (as you meant it) to push ahead and work our way through.
Thank you so much.
In a perfect world where we start out with a good deal of money, we can just assign the idea or task and have it done, but here we are as you said having to wear many hats until we reach a certain knowledge and experience level.
I like having to learn in the rough as you have shown in your tutorial, knowledge seems to stick better in my brain that way.
Thank you for taking the time to share your journey and the lesson that goes along with it, I appreciate you. :)
