What is a link?
A link is a chunk of select text that when you click on it it will take you to a pre determined location either on site or off site. It is usually colored and underlined.
Lets just talk the basics about using links.
How to make a link in wordpress
Remembering our definitions, making a link in WordPress is really quite simple.
There are several ways to do it and I will try to make them all simple to follow.
usually you will have a text picked out and you will want to turn that text into a link.
For example, I have a contact me page on my site and I want to link internally from that page to my privacy policy.
Here is the line of text with the link in it:
"We will always respect your privacy and abide by the terms of our Privacy Policy"
Now, I want my link over the words Privacy Policy so how I would do that is first I would go fetch the link address.
I would go to the address and highlight then copy it.
Now that you have it copied go back to your page/post and highlight where you want the text and go up to your kitchen sink and click the add link box:
You will get the following link box:
Lets start with the top box that the arrow is pointing at.
When you copy and past a link into this box you must first erase the existing http:// or the link will not work as that part of the address is already copied when you you copied the address yourself.
After you have pasted your link into the first box you do not have to add anything to the second box labeled title as the link will become the text that you highlighted already on the page/post before you opened the box.
Hint* I will show you what you can do with this box in a minute.
