Hello everyone!

Welcome to another edition of Shawn's Tutorials.

Today I would like to cover using links in our WordPress sites.

There are several features that make linking fun and I thought it would be nice to take a look at some of the options we have when using links.

lets go over the extreme basics so we are all on the same page when talking about this subject.

First, some definitions:

  • Internal link = a link that goes to another page/post on your website
  • External link = a link that takes a visitor off of your website
  • Affiliate link = a link that takes you to your affiliates website or landing page
  • broken link = a link that no longer works
  • highlight = hold the left mouse button down and slide across a chosen text
  • Copy = Copy a chosen text by highlighting it then right clicking mouse and choosing copy.
  • Paste = setting curser when you want the copied text and right clicking mouse button and choosing paste.
  • Kitchen Sink = The box above the text box when a post or page is in edit mode.

Now that we have the launguage all figured out lets discuss what links are and why we want to use them.
