Differences between Universal Analytics and Google Analytics 4
The biggest difference between Universal Analytics and the latest Google Analytics 4 is its user friendly interface.
There are many differences between the existing universal analytics and GA4, especially about how they define data and what they are called.
- Events: These are the user’s interactions with the platform such as the user action, page view, and the button click. The tracking of events does not require adjusting codes, unlike before
- Parameters: These are additional information that explains each of the parameters. These include the page titles, article ID
- User Property: These are information and attribute about the user
- User ID: This feature is used for cross-platform user tracking.
Apart from these important terms that differentiate them, there are still some key terms from the old version. To get familiarized with the usage of the new version, one needs to get used to the new concepts and understand its usage for business KPIs.
According to Google, it is better to see data collection in the light of the new version than to import settings from the old version to the new one. Google has told its user not to expect their data to look exactly the same in both versions.
