Benefits of using Medium

Traffic Source: Your website is like your Grocery store, and it is your business. Building a website without traffic is like having a grocery store filled with goods; without customers to patronize it. Like every other store, traffic (people) is essential to make money on your website. In other to monetize your articles, you must drive constant traffic to your website.

Medium is a good source of free traffic that can be achieved by adding your website link to your stories on the platform, which helps you to promote stories on your site. When people visit your site and read helpful articles on it, this automatically leads to more traffic on your website.

2. Affiliate Marketing: Medium is a good platform to write reviews of products like books, appliances, and other accessories. Also, you can attach an affiliate link (for example, Amazon Affiliate link or other affiliate links) on the writing editor. This means you can make money when someone visits the site (Amazon) via the link and purchase the product or any other product. Amazon will credit you with the commission of the products bought through your affiliate link.

While the platform supports affiliate links, they frown at Cost-per-Action (CPA) links. CPA is a form of affiliate marketing, where advertisers pay affiliates for specific actions to be taken. This action can range from filling out forms, downloading from links, to ordinary click; it all depends on the contract. Once again, Medium Frowns at CPA.

3. Building Your Email List: To build this list, you can invite readers to subscribe to your notifications and a cache of email address is created. This can be linked to a landing page with the promise of free pieces of training, software, etc.

Lastly, on List building, you can include an email subscription form directly into your medium post. This is done with the aid of Upscribe which is free, Upscribe has a drawback, it collects email addresses, but cannot be used to broadcast email to subscribers.

Also, you will need the services of auto-responders like MailChimp, Getresponce, Aweber, etc.

Medium is a very good platform to build a robust email list that creates an avenue to sell your products and try out new products easily.

You can fully work as an affiliate marketer on Medium without a website of your own, but building your website will help build a sustainable and reliable business.

Hi @Parameter. Thank you for all of your useful training. I appreciate you sharing what you know. I've been writing on Medium for two years and I love it. I would caution users, however, about including affiliate links in the posts. The best way to reach a wider Medium audience is to get your article curated (selected to be distributed by Medium in certain topics). Curated articles tend to generate revenue from the partner program long after they're first posted. However, curators won't choose any articles that have affiliate links to be shared with followers of their topics. This is just to warn writers new to Medium about the rules. If you post too many articles that are not selected to be curated, it takes you out of the running for this option. To really build an audience on Medium it is important to polish your writing, follow the guidelines (ie. list the source for your images) and promote your work. Be sure to include your website link in your bio and you can have a very subtle link to a contact form for your email list, but it just has to be the link these days. It is a fun platform that will help you hone your writing skills and you can make some money from Medium itself for your content (if you join the partner program).
