Facebook Live is great for recording yourself Live to share with the world. You can share a video of yourself or your computer screen streaming live in real-time. You can not do both at the same time using Facebook Live only. However, with the aid of another software utilizing Facebook Live "Stream Key" and/or "Paired Encoder", you can have multiple screens, multiple guests, and/or be able to stream on multiple platforms.
This is my third tutorial for Facebook Live series. This tutorial is about how to create multiple screens including yourself being seen at the same time. By the end of this tutorial, you will learn how to put together a layout with multiple screens using free software.
One thing that is very important to me is having the right language or lingo of terminology. I have been using them incorrectly in the past. Here are two terms that I find very helpful for me to share so that I won’t confuse myself and others.
Platform – For this digital tutorial, it is a location that allows everyone to come together to view the same content. The most common platforms are Facebook Live, Youtube Live, podcasts, twitch, websites, apps, smart TV apps, and so on.
Streaming – It is a continuous stream of data sending through the internet to a platform in real-time without having to download. A few examples are listening to music on Pandora or watching videos on Netflix or Youtube.
Okay now that is out of the way, we can move on to more fun stuff.
There is a list of software available such as OBS Studio, Zoom, StreamYard, Wirecast, and much more that support Facebook Live with features such as multi-streaming, guest-hosting, and virtual sets.
In this tutorial, I shall use the Broadcaster Software Studio (OBS) because it is free. It is also an open-source which means anyone who knows how to code can add their features and contribute to the software.
Is it a way to do Facebook live with an iPhone or iPad and sharing the screen at the same time? Also is there an app so can do screen recording, with sound and facecam at the same time?
