Upon opening the 'Quick Edit' window, you'll find an 'Allow Comments' tick box.
Simply tick or untick this box to turn comments on or off.
For a Post, this looks like:
For a Page, this looks like:

yes, it makes sense, however, I am using thrive themes and I have all of the boxes checked but can't get them (Comments box) to appear just the facebook comment box :( help?

yea added facebook comments mate, The usual method wasn't working, it was a Thrive themes thingymajig lol
