One last thing ...
When a restoration process has been completed you'll see the following screen:
And there's a message saying that you may need to re-save your permalink structure.
What does it mean?
Well, there's a slight chance that your links won't work when you visit your new offline site for the first time.
In this case you need to login to your offline WP dashboard (using the ORIGINAL live site username and password!) to fix the issue.
Just go to Settings -> Permalinks and click "Save Changes".
UPDATE: If you need to save your permalinks, please pay attention to the link structure before you hit the "Save Changes" button. As Marion Black pointed out:
"You'll want to change the Permalink setting to Post Name instead of Custom Structure before saving the changes for permalinks."
And that's it my friends!
In my opinion this is an extremely easy and safe way to synchronize your online and offline websites. Have fun!
If you have any comments, further questions or update requests please don't hesitate to react!
Will this whole process work as you are talking about a live site to an offline site? Excuse my ignorance!
Thanks
Hilary
