A social media strategy might sound a bit fancy or difficult to make. But I prefer to record all the social media posts I do after I have done them, which is not that tedious once you get the hang of it.
There are 2 advantages to having a social media strategy -
- You treat your social media work as part of the business and are less inclined to get distracted.
- You can quickly see when things haven't been done and which websites are not getting the exposure they need.
It can very easily happen that you get so bogged down with one site and one social media platform that everything else gets forgotten about, so this is where being strategic gets things done.
I simply use an excel sheet with the social media sites across the top and a separate tab for each website.
Down the side I have the month and I simply add in the date and any posts I made. I will abbreviate a post title so here maybe the post was 'best dog leads for big dogs' my entry might be 'big dog leads' etc.
This helps me to see;
- When every post got promoted across all the sites.
- Which social media sites I am mainly using for each website
- where there are gaps that I could fill with more content.
So how do I post to the sites? ....
