Steps on Editing YouTube Videos Using YouTube Video Editor
Follow these simple steps to edit your YouTube videos.
Step 1: Access Your YouTube Editor
Log in to your YouTube account either directly or through your Google account. Navigate directly to YouTube Studio to access YouTube Editor or from the YouTube site you click on avatar icon to access YouTube Studio.
Step 2: Add Videos to Your Timeline
From the editor interface, you will see all your YouTube videos from which you can select any videos from the pool into the project. Drag your preferred video onto the timeline or click on the plus icon at the top right-hand corner of each video clip to add it. YouTube Editor also allows you to add any YouTube videos uploaded with a Creative Commons license.
Navigate to the CC (Creative Commons) tab to find videos of your choice and drag to the timeline.
Step 3: Edit Your Video
YouTube Editor allows you to make quick fixes on your videos like adding audio and text to your videos, and adding different filters and transitions to videos you are editing.
Other YouTube Editor functions include changing video settings, video trimming, cutting and splitting.
- To trim video, hover your cursor over the video's edge on the timeline and drag the handle to the desired point. Also, hover your cursor over the video clip to reveal scissors for cutting and splitting video.
- To carry out quick fixes like tweaking of color, brightness or contrast setting, double click the video to show the "Quick fixes" tab from where you can do the needed changes which include slow motion, pan zoom effect and audio fix.
- Add filters by double clicking the video and switching to the "Filter" tab.
- To add text or customize the fonts, go to the "Text" tab, click "Enable text" to enter the text that you want, using your desired font size, position or color.
- Add music to your video with any of YouTube's licensed tracks. Click on the Audio tab from the main interface to select a song from library which can be dragged into the timeline.
- YouTube Video Editor offers 16 transition effects for you to choose from when switching between video clips. Navigate to the transition tab and choose the transition effect you want.
