Applying a Creative Commons License on Your YouTube Video
There are two license options provided by YouTube for uploading content to its services:
1. Standard License- This is the "All Rights Reserved" license which grants YouTube provision to display your video while YouTube users get access to it. The license forbids downloading, adapting or redistribution except it is stated otherwise that the license permits it.
The Standard License is the YouTube default license which can be checked in advanced settings and from the drop-down box "License and Rights Ownership"
2. CC BY License - This license gives permission to copy, redistribute and share in any form and adapt for personal or commercial purposes.
Videos marked with Creative Commons are either self-created or cleared under the CC BY License. Videos under public domain also fall under this license category.
To check or change video license to CC BY License, log in to your account and click "Advanced" tab from where you can choose 'Creative Commons – Attributes' option from the drop-down box.
To Wrap it Up
Now that you have realized how easy it is to edit your Video with YouTube Editor, nothing should stop you from creating that video you have so desired to. Ensure that you follow the steps outlined and you will come out with a video fit for distribution.
Applying a CC license to your video should be a walk over using the information contained in this post. You can now focus on gathering resources for the production of your next video.
If you haven't already given the YouTube Video Editor a trial, now would be the best time to do that. Even if the video doesn't come out as expected on your first trial, keep at it and remember to select the appropriate license for your video.
I have this bookmarked too! Thank you very much I can't wait to get going on YouTube.
Have a Blessed week.
