So ...

Upon activation, go to Settings => PayPal Donations to access the plugin configuration page.

Before anything else, you'll have to provide your PayPal email that you used to create your PayPal account, and then you can choose a currency:

Below you'll see various optional parameters such as page style (the option to provide a custom donation page URL from your PayPal account), return page (the URL to which the donator comes to after completing the donation; for example, you can create a Wordpress page to thank the donors), default amount, purpose of donation, button style, etc.

Once you are happy with your choices, don't forget to click the "Save Changes" button!

And that's all ... Now you can use the [paypal-donation] hortcode in any post or page. Here's the shortcode inserted in a given post ...

... and here's the live result:

Also, you can go to Appearance => Widgets in order to add the PayPal donation button to your sidebar. Simply drag the "PayPal Donations" widget into your sidebar (or any other widget-ready area) and customize it according to your needs. Here's a simple live example:

OK. Now let's see the second method ...

Would it be wise to create a paypal donate hutton for a cause that is not related to your website? For example a shelter, spay/neuter clinics?

Well, that should be your choice Christine :)

Personally, I wouldn't put anything on my site that isn't related to my niche.

Thank you once again Zsoit for another helpful and very useful post.

I have a question????

I noticed that there was a section on PayPal where it asked how much.

Any suggestion as to what amount is reasonable to add there?

Many thanks

Jennifer

There is no golden rule here Jennifer ... It depends on many factors ... The purpose, the target audience, etc ...

Yes I get that but do you not have to put something in that section or can you leave it blank and leave it up to the person making the donation.

If you do have to complete that section I just wanted an idea say what is the minimum to ask for ?

PayPal will give you 3 options:

Any amount
An exact amount
Set 3 amount options, plus any amount

So if you are unsure, you can choose any amount or set 3 amounts plus any amount.

Brilliant

That takes the thinking of an amount out of the process.

Many thanks

PayPal will charge some kind of fee, I know the charge me on the business account pennies on the dollars.

So, you may want to make sure you set a donation of $5 to help offset the fees.
