We Buy From Trust

Blogging is all about building trust. It's the key to whether your blog will continue to thrive.

Many people dream of building a blog that generates traffic and revenue, even though Google makes them poor. This is because they pay less attention to building trust with their audience and even less to personal branding.

Trust is the thing that matters in the real world. You buy items from the seller you trust and you loan money to the person who you trust. Humanity won't exist without trust. The same goes for blogging and online businesses.

Blogs are a place where trust is essential:

  • To build networks
  • To increase your blog's popularity
  • To increase sales
  • To be a happy blogger
  • To get more social shares

In the early days of the internet, there was virtually no competition. But now you must build trust with your audience, despite the fact that there is so much competition in every niche you market online.

Your audience should be loyal to your brand for life. This blog should be trustworthy and have a personality.

But how do you get there?

Create Stunning Videos

This is the most important tip I can offer to increase trust with your audience. Video is the best online medium to build trust for personal branding.

To trust you, people need to be able to see you or perhaps make eye contact with your face.

Create YouTube videos that feature you in front of the camera. Upload the YouTube videos to your blog in the sidebar or elsewhere.

Video content can boost conversions. It is unlike any other medium. Webinars are highly convertible but video draws a crowd.

I love that you wrote on this topic of building trust. I never realized how important it was until recently, when I started a new podcast and how vital it was to trust that the people I invited to interview on my podcast needed to be trustworthy to show up for the episode and without the trust between us we would not be able to have a comfortable conversation if one at all. In building trust, my audience knows that they're safe to subscribe to my podcast as I will be there with new material regularly. If I promised the audience something, I should make good on that promise instead of making excuses.

Thanks for sharing. I have my avatar on my about page, but that is it. How would I add it on the side though? And then I already am planning a YouTube channel but not ready yet. And then you state to post content daily. However, it takes me 6 hrs to just write one post. With being in school and a single mom there is no way I can do that. Unless I give up sleep. So I think that all depends on the person and their abilities. Thanks again.

I hear you Kiersti. This all takes time. So pick one item and enhance your brand as you learn.

Writing content quickly is an art and it also takes time to progress. Whatever you are adding to your website at the moment is better than not adding anything. Daily is just a goal and one to aim for as your website grows.

Keep in mind that you can always find a copywriter down the track to write your articles which will save you a terrific amount of time.

Will do. I do work on my site daily either that’s content , editing or training . I find that doing something matters.

It's all about trust, Lily! A business will fail without first building trust and maintaining it. Thanks for this piece!

Thanks Lily. Great blog on building trust. I must admit to struggling with my Avatar. I have an account and placed an Avatar on my gardening site, but have been unable to do the same with my other sites. Do you know of a tutorial 'Avatars for Dummies' .
It seems that, since my illness, I'm having trouble concentrating on different things and implementing some things onto my website. Jim

I will find you a tutorial Jim or write you one.
It can be frustrating the confusion that comes with illness, try and pace yourself a little. I'll get back soon.

I have a Gravatar account but I can't work out how to add other websites. Do you have to have a different email address with each site?

Yes you do unfortunately Jim.
