Heads-up: This Tutorial is vintage 2016 (Win 8, 8.1 & 10 Users)

The bigger my website grows, WordPress and web hosting updates can be risky. Since I rather be safe than sorry, I got to thinking: “Is there a way I can manage my website from my PC instead of a web browser?”

Lucky for us, YES!

You might have experience logging into a public library or college PC to access remote files via a handy feature called File Transfer Protocol or FTP. Maybe not? Either way, just like from a remote PC, you can access your hosted website’s files remotely right from your desk!

Let’s give it a shot!

Look over to the upper left side of the Wealthy Affiliate site to find the “Site Rubix” button. Hover your cursor over it to bring up a panel, and click “Site Manager: GO”.

Great training, Dawn! I've done this in years past but, this was a great refresher for me!

And, you included such a simple little fix for saved "bad passwords"...!

I commend you and hope that you do some more training to keep us out of website trouble!

Be used where instead of FileZilla? The instructions here can probably applied to any FTP application.

Thank you Littlemama, I was wondering what's the point of using FileZilla since we can access site directories through FTP connection, but probably may need to educate myself more in this particular area

Lesson 6 seems to be the core of logging into the ftp panel and making it work. Great tactics Dawn!
