One thing you may notice after installing the AMP plugin is that your traffic suddenly dips like crazy. One reason for this dip is your normal installation of Google Analytics may not be tracking AMP visitors since AMP restricts almost all Javascript.

There are many ways to fix this problem. The easiest method I found was to install the Google Site Kit plugin.

Since Google created a ton of the tools we use in our blogging sites, Google created Site Kit to allow bloggers like us to easily set up things such as Analytics, Search Console, and Adsense on WordPress.

When you install and set up Google Analytics using the Site Kit plugin, Google will automatically configure Analytics in a way that will allow it to track AMP visits.

You can also use Google Site Kit to set up tools such as Google Adsense. If display ads are a monetization strategy you use on your website, Google Site Kit can help you set up Auto-Ads on the AMP version of your website.

Installing and setting up the Google Site Kit plugin is also very easy.

First, you would install and activate the Google Site Kit plugin like any other plugin. I linked it above if you want to confirm if you have the right plugin.

Once the plugin is activated, Google will then prompt you to set up various services. These instructions are very easy to understand and straightforward. I just accepted everything and moved forward, entering my Gmail account details whenever needed.

Admittedly, after reinstalling Analytics, my traffic is down compared to before I installed AMP. However, my bounce rate has decreased significantly dropping from 80% to 50%, and my website loads much faster for mobile users.
