First of all, let's see the obvious question ...
Why/When add a "rel=NoFollow" attribute to your external links?
As you probably already know, most SEO experts recommend you to make internal linking a habit ... In plain English: whenever you have the chance, you should link to your own older posts.
Why?
Because, each time you link to any page on your own site, you are transferring SEO points (link juice) to that page. It's really simple ...
BUT!
If you write a post that has both internal links and external links pointing to other websites, you'll have to make an extra "effort" in order to get the maximum link juice to YOUR internal posts or pages.
You can do that by adding a "nofollow" attribute to your external links. Basically, the "nofollow" attribute will instruct search engines to NOT transfer any link juice from your site to the given external site. It looks like this:
<
a
ref
=
"http://www.example.com"
rel
=
"nofollow"
>Example Link</
a>
It's also very simple, but there's a small "problem" ... After adding your link in the visual editor, you'll have to switch to Text editor mode in order to manually add the "nofollow" attribute to each external link ... Which could be very annoying and time consuming when you have several external links in your content.
So, I've decided to create this short tutorial where I will show you how easy is to add a NoFollow option to the default "Insert Link" feature in Wordpress.

Let's do this!
if I remember correctly, he said it was better in Google's view that they knew where you were sending your visitors to...
yet many other places I see they say always use the no follow...which confused me.
I have posts ranked first on page 1 without any "no follow" attribute.
So what is the main benefit of using this no follow and why use it if you can get your posts first on page 1 without it?
