While you can't duplicate a competitor's content, you can copy what they're doing to earn backlinks. You can also use your competitors' content to get backlinks.

You'll be surprised at how quickly your page will climb in the SERPs. You can then take advantage of their success and use it to your advantage.

If you're looking for free backlinks, many SEO tools are available. SEMrush is one such tool that shows you a complete backlink profile of any website.

You can enter your competitor's domain, and SEMrush will display a list of their link sources. Look for websites with a high number of backlinks from these sources.

Hey Troylene, backlinks are basically when other sites link to your site. This signals to Google & other search engines that they "recommend" your content, and therefore your ranks can increase. You don't need to worry about "making backlinks" though, they'll happen naturally as you produce & share your awesome content :)

When one website links to another, a backlink is created and which they are important to SEO. They signal to Google that another resource finds your content "valuable" and enough to link to it within their own content.

Hope this helps.

It happens naturally as you produce and share more content.

However if I understand you correctly, it is completely a different matter you may choose to edit in site content or WordPress directly.

Totally your choice.

You may search "SiteContent - The Complete Walkthrough" in magnifying glass top menu to view the walkthrough.

If you edited a document in site content and published it, future edits has to be done in WordPress. Site content and WordPress work independently.

I'd place my images in a document in site content and publish it to my site. it will be added to my WordPress media library. Then delete the “temporary image” doc in site content so that it does not get indexed as well.

I hope this helps.

Thing to consider: last year Google announced they would take measures about link exchange practices. They will i) instruct bots to ignore such backlinks, and ii) if a site has them many, they would take a manual action, and this means punishment. This may hurt site's performance in long run.
