I would recommend to start with free tools.
Two options
Option One: Hotjar
It is very easy to set up
- Register free
- Then get a tracking code pixel
- Open Wordpress website
- Go to Appearance
- Open Editor and select the Theme you are working in for the front end.
- Open Theme header.php
- Copy and paste the tracking code in the header.php by going into at the end and save the file.
- Then you can return to the software website you are using and verify installation by clicking verification tab (Hotjar)
- Once a single visitor visit your website, the heatmap is activated.
Option Two: Sumome
Good thing about Sumome is that is completely free and set is very very easy. You get the Sumome Widget and activate heatmap in it after activating it on your website.
You have to click on the flame to activate it for each page where you want heatmap recording.
I hope, you will find it useful for your online Business.

Thanks very much for this information. I have used paid Heatmaps in the past and they have been very helpful. I have not been aware of free options, but will now try some from the list you have provided :)

hi is this the same as the tool within google analytics - only working in chrome browser - where you can see the click percentage on your web site?
under behaviour - page analytics, install the page analytics into chrome and see your live page analytics without another addon to your website.
many thanks for this
