Use Proper Title Optimization

A title is one of the essential parts of a website, and using it correctly can boost a website’s search engine visibility. Follow the listed rules below to get the best results.

First, you should avoid using the exact key phrase as the main text on the same page. It makes your content look spammy and isn’t effective. Instead, use the exact key phrase as the main keyword in several places on your website.

Secondly, a title should always be relevant to the content on a page. Google looks for updated and relevant content. For this reason, you should also update titles regularly. It will improve your site’s ranking. For better results, ensure that your title matches the page’s content.

Also, a title should not contain stop words. These are words that are ignored by search engines and users. If your title includes these words, you should remove them. But remember not to be too strict.

I never use H1 anyplace but the blog title, where Wordpress uses it automatically. If my post is long enough, I like to use H2 and H3, but for shorter posts I just use H2 or maybe even no headers.

I like to use one of the plugins that shows the content of post according to the headers, partly for the convenience of the reader but also for me to check that I have the H levels correct.

That sounds like a great plan Rosana.

Thanks for a very informative training on Google content for SEO. However, I do have a few questions. When it comes to the articles I get the title will be an H1 however the very first heading after that should be H1 or H2 right? Well what about the rest of the subheadings should they all be H2, or should they be H3 after that? And then my final question is the HTML tags what are they because I got lost with that?

Yes I new that. However it’s the five subheading I’m asking about. Thanks though.

Hi Kersti,
What I do is all headings after the title are H3. It's about keeping a consistent plan throughout your post. H2 can seem too large for your website.
