Guidelines for Better Content Organization

Here are the essential guidelines for organizing your content for search engines:

  • Have a Clear Hierarchy.
  • Use the Proper HTML Tags for Your Specific Audience.
  • Target a Specific Audience.
  • Define a Clear Information Structure for Your Website.
  • Use Proper Title Optimization.

Have a Clear Hierarchy

Having a clear hierarchy will help your audience grasp the main ideas. It will help search engines understand the meaning of your content and give it context. There are several reasons why page structure is so important.

To rank your website in the top Google search results, it must be navigable. The search engines crawl pages to get an idea of what they contain. Thus, you need to ensure that your content is readable and easy to understand.

An appealing website will have lower bounce rates and higher SEO. And it will also attract more visitors. Moreover, a site with a clear structure is more likely to receive a higher traffic volume.

A site with a top-down structure allows the search engines to discover and update posts efficiently. If your content is structured correctly, it will rank in the top position. If you follow these steps, you will be well on your way to optimizing your website for high SERPs.

I never use H1 anyplace but the blog title, where Wordpress uses it automatically. If my post is long enough, I like to use H2 and H3, but for shorter posts I just use H2 or maybe even no headers.

I like to use one of the plugins that shows the content of post according to the headers, partly for the convenience of the reader but also for me to check that I have the H levels correct.

That sounds like a great plan Rosana.

Thanks for a very informative training on Google content for SEO. However, I do have a few questions. When it comes to the articles I get the title will be an H1 however the very first heading after that should be H1 or H2 right? Well what about the rest of the subheadings should they all be H2, or should they be H3 after that? And then my final question is the HTML tags what are they because I got lost with that?

Yes I new that. However it’s the five subheading I’m asking about. Thanks though.

Hi Kersti,
What I do is all headings after the title are H3. It's about keeping a consistent plan throughout your post. H2 can seem too large for your website.
