Using the right set of keywords can be very helpful for your site and also increase the success of your website. Being able to get the best nouns and adjectives for your keywords determines how successful you will be in terms of SEO. Before you select the keywords for your content, make sure you fully understand the SEO process.
Prepare a Keyword List
1. Think like a consumer
The queries that are sent to the search engines are used to deliver the appropriate answers.
- You should remove the idea you previously had that users will make use of proper sentences when they are performing searches. Most times a user would like the search phrase he used to be included in the result, such as ‘the best Smartphone in 2020.’
2. Brainstorm the words you would use in finding terms related to your products
You can share ideas with your marketing team and come up with terms that relate to your product or content.
3. Make a list
Make a list of about 20 to 40 keyword combinations that you can research. Each of the combinations should have 2 to 4 words.
- The keywords with a longer combination are called “long tail keyword”. This type of keyword is used by the user to get more accurate and specific results. However, they are not often used as head keywords
- When you use Excel or other spreadsheet software, you can use it to keep the result of each keyword and its performance for search engine optimization.
4. Start by listing the keywords in a row, then add columns like “Pay per Click”, “PageRank”, “Conversion rate”, and “Value rating”.
You can add these columns to the spreadsheet and fill them out as time goes on.
