Found Your Blog, Time To Pitch

Once you've found the ideal blog you want to guest post at, it's time to pitch your guest article to them!

But hold on one second...

Some sites might allow you to just jump in and let you pitch your post. However each site probably has different requirements.

Make sure to read those requirements before you waste your time writing out your article just to get it rejected.

The way I like to approach it is the following:

  1. Read a few articles. This is important to see what kind of style the blog has. If it's more of a political blog, you're not going to be a jokey personality. You'd have a formal approach.
  2. Get to know the owner of the blog, Make sure to comment on the blog, like their facebook page, follow them on twitter. After about a month of commenting regularly on their site, they should get to know your name and you can try to hint that you want to eventually guest post for them.
  3. Write a thorough email. Make sure that when you pitch your idea, that you write them directly. Give them more than one pitch that might fit to their blog. Additionally you could link to your own blog (and other previous guest posts you've done) to see the quality of your work.

This process will take the most time as you need to establish a connection with the owner of the blogs you are interested.

If you ask me, make a list of 20-50 blogs and comment on their sites regularly until you get noticed. This should speed up the process in future as you then have over 20 blogs for potential guest posts.

You're right. I recommend you start checking out blogs in your niche as you build along. It saves time and you learn what type of content people like to read in your niche.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Free images isn't my main website, it's the website where I display the pictures of my husband, I don't blog there myself
