Don't Rewrite The Whole Post

You might be tempted to change quite a bit of content but there's no need to do that but what you should do is...

  • CHECK FOR GRAMMATICAL ERRORS
  • CHECK YOUR SPELLING
  • CHECK THAT YOUR AFFILIATE LINKS ARE STILL WORKING AND THE PRICES ARE STILL THE SAME, IF NOT, CHANGE THEM SO THEY ARE UP TO DATE.
  • JUST DO A GENERAL TIDY UP TO MAKE IT LOOK MORE VISUALLY APPEALING.
  • IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, LINK TO ANOTHER POST OF YOURS WITHIN THE SAME WEBSITE WHICH IS ABOUT A SIMILAR TOPIC.

AND THAT IS ALL THAT I DO TO AN OLD POST TO RE-VAMP IT. ITS JUST A CASE OF LETTING THE INTERNET KNOW ABOUT THIS SORT OF NEW POST THAT YOU HAVE.

The first thing that I do is to let google+ know about it

I paste the link of the post into a new status, above that then I copy and paste the new meta title with the keyword standing out. I then copy and paste the new meta description, and then write a small piece about the post which is totally brand new.

POST IT, GIVE IT A LIKE, AND ITS OFF TO LET THE SEARCH ENGINES KNOW ABOUT IT.

You now want to FETCH AS GOOGLE, if you don't know how to do that then this training by Lynne might help you https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co... Then you want to FETCH AS BING the same way you did with Google.

And that's all folks!

Wait a few minutes to go back to check your rank within the Free SERP Checker and then lets see what we have.

And there it is, gone from position 54 to position 7 in just a few easy steps. OK, its not number 1 but that's one hell of a jump from where it was.

ANOTHER THING THAT CAN HELP YOUR OLD POSTS IS NEW COMMENTS

Like I said at the start, I'm not sure how accurate this rank checker is but it cant do any harm to do any of this to your old posts can it?

I hope that you can get some life back into your old posts, and a huge thank you to magistudios for the original training that help-ed me so much.

Hi Matthew, in answer to your question about using ALT in images: the ALT text is what people see who can't see images. It is a text description of your image and the bots of Google see this too. It is generally recommended to use your keyword in at least one image, of course use it in a way that looks pleasant and natural. It increases your ranking if you do. But don't just stuff the keyword in each ALT text, because that will be noticed by Google too. Google uses your ALT text to index your picture as well, so be descriptive and if possible use the exact keyword 1 time and matching keywords to the other images you have, so it's clear to Google what it's all about.

Thank you for your training, it's a nice read and a great idea. Only I don't see why I would change the date in Wordpress, because in your sitemap Google is going to be notified that you made changes, the robots will then re-index your post and rank it again if there are lots of changes. Changing the date isn't going to work. If you act as if it is a newer post, you will also have a duplicate content issue, which you want to avoid. You don't need to do that :) Google does mention the post date in the search results only if you allow that in your meta's and it's recommended not to do that, because it takes space and you rather use that space for your meta description text :)
