Start to Create Child Issues

Now you need to create child issues for each Epic. These are the individual Stories that are required to be completed for the Epic.

To start, click on the Create Child Issue button.

Child Issues will be created by default as Stories. Give each story a name and complete as many of them as you want to support the Epic. Don't try to think of all of them, as you will gain more insight into what needs to be done as you progress.

These Stories are automatically being gathered into your Backlog. When you get to the stage of creating a Sprint, you will drag the Stories to be completed in that Sprint from the Backlog.

Jira will automatically create the Scrum Board, with the items that you have dragged into the Sprint showing in the To Do column.

The next task is to start estimating how much you can get done during a Sprint. This requires the allocation of Story Points to each Story.

Back to the Roadmap

Go back to the Roadmap with its list of Stories under each Epic.

We will start Part 3 of the training with assigning Story Points and then move to inspecting the Backlog and creating our Sprint and Scrum Board

Phil, this looks super interesting
And something that I will definitely be tackling later on
I have bookmarked this training for a second look
And also helpful for when I actually starts :)
Thank you for sharing

It works great for me, Fran, but I was using it to run development teams in the corporate world some years ago. It keeps me focused on the day to day while not losing sight of the big picture.

Obviously it's a good planning too as you have used it successfully for some time. Glad you told us about it.

Thank you, Fran. Part 3 will show using a Scrum board from my own setup.

Hello Phil, thanks for your job. Accidentally I have chosen "kanban" is there a possibility to change it to "scrum"?

I've never done that, sorry, but I'd try deleting the Kanban board and going back to that point and re-selecting Scrum.

Thx, I've tried doing another account with another email but there are just Kaban or Tim options. I don't know what now 😔.

I don't know what a Tim option is. Maybe you are in the wrong place. Could you send me a screenshot please?

I've tried one more time and now it looks OK, should I use a template? It is asking me about it. I guess yes.

One of the things about Jira is the many, many options available. I don't recall ever being asked about a template but generally speaking they are shortcuts, so I'd say yes, but I'm really only guessing.
