So...Who Are You? What Do You Stand For?
To position your brand and build a loyal following you need to ensure you know what you are about and how you would wish others to see you.
Your mission and values should be reflected and your brand obvious.
Your brand, if to work, must reflect you, your mission, your values and what you stand for:
- concisely without requiring too much reading
- no long sentences of academic speak
- no explanations needed - if visitors need to read subheadings and explanatory sentences you'll lose them
- language - set the scene. What type of language are your visitors going to be seeing throughout your site. (if you are a professional site then maybe "Traffik" and "X-treme" arent the best
Get this right and your positioning becomes more secure as people know at first glance what you stand for and what to expect from you. You build emotive attraction as well as visual.
Remember we have all seen wonderful logos, great colour schemes and attractive fonts...but did they appeal emotionally, did they make you want to stay on the site, did they reach you, did they instantly tell you what the site was about and what you'd anticipate finding should you explore further?
In the image below...what do you see? If this was part of branding where should it be used? Who does it appeal to? Would you consider this to be fashion, elegance, upmarket, visual, glamour, .... or the logo for high octane sports?
