REGISTERING TO USE LINKCOLLIDER
Very simple process, no credit card and all that stuff required (sound familiar, Wealthy Affiliate members???)...It took me five minutes to register with an email, but I could also have signed up using one of my Google accounts or with Facebook (convenient!)...
START WITH FREE LEVEL MEMBERSHIP
Know that this is the level I am covering today, you could use other strategies with some of their paid options...I recommend that you start with the free program and only decide to add money to increase your activity after you have seen what it will do for you...
PAID MEMBERSHIP - JUST TO LET YOU KNOW...
There are also two ways you can add to the free level of service they offer on LinkCollider:
(1) You can buy 'tokens' the monetary unit they use to award activity and the unit they charge for getting activity to your selected websites...Once you are in, you can see hat the charge is, but as with most other programs, larger amounts cone at a cheaper price per unit...
(2) They also have 3 paid membership levels, and with each more expensive level, you get more benefits. Once you see that the site is doing what you are looking for (as in building your social presence and helping for SEO) then these might be of interest.
NOTE: Since the focus is on the free level for this tutorial, that is all you need to know at this point. Once you have started, you can decide how you courl use the options to best put your social branding effort on autopilot with these (I would recommend other tools as well, but this one can certainly be a portion of your effort)...
Next...OK you are in...
There is a tutorial that will walk you through the process of how to use the tool, a rather quick one and easy to follow...It does not take long to figure out what to do and how to do, it is a matter of collating your webistes that you want to push traffic to and the kind of activity you want for each...
Once you are in, I recommend going through the short training to understand how to use the site...It will not take long and you can quickly set yourself up and be rolling/getting social activity to your selcted website locations...
LET'S GET STARTED WITH SETTING UP...
SETTING UP LINKCOLLIDER
Above you see a screenshot from a page from my account and will notice the red arrows and boxed numbers...
These are areas on the site we will be concerned with for this tutorial...
I will go through each of the areas above and explain what to do for each. They are not complicated to work with, but it can be helpful to walk them through...
AN ASIDE: IS HAVING A SOCIAL PRESENCE IMPORTANT?
There will be some naysayers that will tell you not to spend any time at all on such drivel, focus only on content and on-page SEO.
I will tell you that as a businessperson, I am interested in casting my name and products as far and wide as possible, not just through content...
Therefore, yes I AM interested in getting all the brand awareness possible out there to as many people as possible and on as many different platforms as possible...
Here's why...
These days social media plays an ever more important part of traffic and business. facebook alone has over 1.4 billion folks using their site daily, and over 50 % of people access the internet through mobile devices.
So...
If you are NOT considering social platforms as you build your business, and building it around these platforms, you are doing yourself a disservice! This is an aside, but an important one...
Not only that, also look at your website to make sure the theme you are using is mobile responsive, and also consider adding SSL to it (Google will reward you for your effort)...
So having added in some background as to why social media platforms are important, now let's dig in to the settings for free membership...
SETTINGS FOR USING THE LINKCOLLIDER TOOL
This first part of the setup involves deciding which of your sites on the internet you want to build up. As a free member you can promote 3 websites and there are a number options to get activitiy that you can set for each...
In my case, we chose the following three website presences:
(1) Our main estore website.
(2) The supporting Facebook Page for that store (there is also an exact copy of our website store on a tab on that page), and
(3) Our associated YouTube channel for the estore...
NOTE: We also have Google +, Twitter, Quora, and etc. sites but after thinking through the goals we have a bit, deemed that these three were going to be fastest to help build the brand and name...
We did address getting the word out through many of the other platforms, but we'll go into that a bit later in the tutorial...
