The Pros:

  1. It's free.

It's true, you get what you pay for, and for free, you shouldn't expect the moon. But, 25 backlinks per day for free isn't something to sneeze at. When you think about it, for some articles and webpages, 25 backlinks is enough to get you ranking, and you can go from there.

  2. It's easy to use.

It's one form, or one plugin, and only a few fields. They provide a video and writen instructions, and even show you how to insert their spintax into the name, description, and tags, so you don't need to guess.

  3. It's fast.

All you do is supply the URL, title, description, tags, and a category, and from there you can preview your spun information, or submit to 25, or 100 sites if you're a premium member.

  4. The limitations imposed can be worked around.

They only allow you to submit your URL once. That's a bummer, but you can probably understand why they do. However, you can submit each page or post on your site, or each article you've written. So, a 10 page site could get 250 backlinks over 10 days, provided you logged in once per day and submitted a different page.

The Cons:

  1. Free only has 25 links once per day

Only 25 backlinks, but if you're submitting multiple pages on your site, you'll pretty much have the descriptions written, so you can just copy and paste for each page. Make it a habit to log in every day and submit a URL, and by the end of the first month, you'll have 750 backlinks. That's 750 more than you had the month before.

  2. Sites are new.

The creator of the site is the one who's running the majority of the sites, so they're all only a few months old. However, they're indexed in Google, and I'm able to find my backlinks when I go searching.

  3. Link reports are limited for the free version

They submit to 25 sites, but you only see about half the links. It's done to encourage you to sign up for the premium version, but you are able to pull up those dozen or so links for pinging.

  4. Titles, descriptions, and tags must be spun.

You can't get away with only one title, description, etc. So, if you're trying to rank for “homemade money printer” and only that term, you're out of luck. But isn't spun content good, especially with the Google Farmer update?

SocialMonkee can be used to good effect. I've had sites ranking on page 6 or 7 of Google move up a few pages of results with use of this. I won't claim that I had something sitting at spot 75 suddenly get the #1 spot for it's search term, but I've seen them go to page 3 and 4 from 6 or 7, with the submission of a page or two. Your mileage will vary depending on what you're submitting, competition, etc etc.

Thank you both for the comments. I tried to explain step by step, because while it's simple to use, that doesn't mean it can't have problems (like dashes and apostrophes).

I haven't used it on articles yet, but I think that would be an excellent use for it. Since articles don't usually need a lot of backlinks, one submission with SocialMonkee should be enough to help them rank.

Like how you break it down and show how it works. Might give it a whirl. Not to my websites. Just the articles around it.
