What is CPL?

Cost per lead (CPL) is used by companies and advertisers that want their website visitors sign up for something, called a lead.

These ads can be banners or direct links leading to the advertiser’s website, or both.

These require the visitor to give their email address.

When your visitor enters their e-mail address to sign up for your advertisers offer you are paid a specific amount.

Pay rates for CPL also range from a few cents to large dollar amounts. The rate is determined by your ad/affiliate network and based on what the advertiser is willing to pay.

The rates are usually higher than CPC...but so is the workload higher...we all know the volume of traffic required to collect emails.

People are far more likely to click a link an ad (CPC) than they are to offer their email address. CPL is good for those with a large following of people who trust their suggestions.

It's funny I just signed up for Cafepress and saw these for the first time. Of course I had no idea what they meant, but had to pick one to continue. At least now I know what I picked. Do you know if you can change it after you've applied? Thanks Jason. Great training.
