High Quality Backlinks
As I mentioned, social media marketing is good. And, you need a certain amount of "social signals" (backlinks on social sites) because it's now a Google ranking factor. (Recent Google algorithm change..... well, recent to me, because I've been doing this a LONG time.)
But, having a backlink on some well-respected domains is also a great way to gain some high-powered backlinks. So, let's hop into a few places I will obtain backlinks for a highly competitive niche.
Article Marketing
While this method was quite abused in the past and recently devalued by Google, it still holds some solid high-quality value for backlinks IF you choose the right article directories to submit your articles to. (Yes, you have to submit another article to the article directory - containing a backlink to your website.)
There are really only a handful of article marketing directories that I worry about. They are the ones that still hold some nice Domain Authority power in Google's eyes.
You can get a free account at each one of these and submit articles to them to help any page or post on your website gain more SEO power.
Some of them allow a nice anchor text backlink within the content of the article itself. Additionally, you can usually get away with at least two backlinks in each article. Yes, they can be to two different pages on your website. So, one article can help rank two different pages or posts on your site.
Okay, on to the next source for high-quality backlinks.....
Still - each person here at WA has to decide what is best for their website(s). I've talked with people who think backlinks have been one of the key factors in the success of their sites. I've talked with others who are very much opposed to them.
In the end, it's up to each of us to educate ourselves. As for me, I respect your input here and I respect what Kyle and Carson have built.
It's good to have different perspectives so we can continue to grow and diversify our sites. After all, one of the key factors WA offers is our community.
I'm looking forward to your next blog.
In Faith,
~Cathy
