During the 30 day blogging challenge you need to make sure that you are not only producing quality content for your readers but also for the search engines too. Keeping to a good blogging frequency will naturally improve our search engine rank in time. But we also need to make sure that our blog posts are optimized properly for the search engines too. Take a look at this basic on page SEO checklist to make sure you are getting the best chance to rank.

  • Ensure you have produced high-quality content at least 800 words in length.
  • Is your target keyword included in page headline?
  • Have you included the keyword in at least one sub-headline.
  • Does your keyword appear within body of your article?
  • Has your page got relevant images and/or graphics with the keyword within the “alt tags” section?
  • Do any image captions include the target keyword?
  • Have you checked your post for misspellings?
  • Does your post have internal links pointing to other relevant posts on your blog?

Some of you may have the Yoast SEO plugin installed on your WordPress blog. This plugin gives you a great deal of guidance whilst producing content and is something that I use constantly. Just follow the prompts that the plugin gives you to ensure that your posts and pages are properly optimized.

This training from Jay will also help you to further understand on page SEO.

Here Jay shows us how to optimize an article from start to finish.

Challenge accepted. I will post 1 posts per day for 4 days each for 4 weeks. I am one of those people who works best when challenged or I have to be accountable. This is perfect for me to get back on that 'roll'. Thank you so much, Andrew.

Hey Andrew,
I am guilty of attempting to put the cart before the horse. Somehow I missed the qualification 'must have completed the certification training'. Unfortunately I have not (Course 3 Lesson 5)
and this has certainly prompted me to finish the training.

When I finish the training I will challenge myself because I know I could benefit from the push. In the mean time I will double my website content creation from 1X per week to 2X per week.

I'm giving you all the credit for this concept, thx for waking me up.!!

Cheers,
Mark
