Movavi

Movavi is an editor for amateur video editors because it is very simple and intuitive, but it offers more advanced features in terms of editing and improving video. It provides several features for color adjustments, insertion of more complex effects and more.

Filmora

Do you remember Windows Movie Maker? The media software that was already installed on Windows machines and it worked in a simple and light way! Ideal for less elaborate editions!

As the program was discontinued by Microsoft, Filmora appears as a good alternative for this type of work. It offers more beginner software, FilmoraPro, and a screen-cast tool!

These products are available for Windows and Mac.

Openshot

Openshot is an excellent option especially for those who use Linux as an operating system. It is very intuitive and easy to use and allows the user to make simple edits, such as cropping, adding effects and inserting photos and music.

Openshot is completely free and, if you want to try it, there is also a version for Windows and one for Mac!

Videopad

Videopad is a very simple editor, suitable for those who do not want or do not need to make very deep edits. It is very light and intuitive and can be ideal if your goal is just to make cuts, joins and insert small effects.

The editor is available for both Mac and PC and is free for a short trial period only.

Thank you, Israel for this tutorial. Am looking for a video editor and this comes in handy. I was interested in Filmora, but the watermark in the free version cuts across the whole middle section of the video. And the paid version can cost quite a bit. I would rather buy a perpetual license but that is pricey at USD 69.99.

Thank you, Israel!
I loved this training because you certainly helped me to choose something according to my needs and expertise.
You have truly invested quite a lot of research and time to put this list together. I have worked with several programs you review and your comments are spot-on.
Amazing work!

ACK! First of all, your posts are AWESOME. The ACK!!! was because yet ANOTHER reviewer left out Debut that has some of the best free options available for screen capture videos out there. Check it out! (and no, I am in no way affiliated to or make a dime off of these people!)

Much grateful, Feochadan! Thanks for leaving a valuable thought and contribution to this tutorial! Video content has taken preeminence over text-based content and must be explored to move our business to the next level. Thanks again, my friend!

I have Openshot on my laptop, I have not played too much with it yet. I have made several videos that I have just put online without any editing. I started this week making videos for a site that I made for another business. I will need to start using this week to get the videos online.
Thanks for writing up this list.

You're most welcome, Chris! Good to know you're already having the Openshot software downloaded right on your laptop computer. So exciting! You can look into the other editing programs on the list and make a good choice of a program for your video editing. Thanks for your valuable contribution!
