For Intermediate Video Editors

If you already have a little more familiarity with video editing and its techniques or need more advanced adjustments in your productions, it may be time to abandon the basic programs and move on to a more complete one. Check out these:

Camtasia

Camtasia is one of the most popular video editing programs among producers. It has many valuable tools especially for those who produce educational content, such as video lessons and tutorials.

The screen capture feature is one of the main attractions of the program and it also offers very interesting editing options - both for captures and your files.

Camtasia is available for PC and Mac. It has a free trial period, but you must pay later to continue using it.

Lightworks

Available only for PC; Lightworks is a more complete program than the basic Movie Maker and iMovie, but it is still quite easy to use and make your edits on a more professional level.

Pinnacle Studio

Pinnacle is a very complete video editor and offers several resources for you to edit your materials more quickly and intuitively. In this program, you have several pre-configured video templates that can help a lot if you are not so familiar with editing.

Despite being a program with many features, it has a more intuitive and simple interface than professional editors.

Remember that the program is only free for 15 days and, in the trial version, blocks some tools.

Wondershare Video Editor - or Filmora

Despite having an interface very similar to that of Adobe Premiere, which is professional software, Wondershare is much simpler to use. In contrast, it is also more limited in terms of features and editing tools, but it fits perfectly if you just need to make basic adjustments, like cutting, inserting music and other simple effects.

This program is also only free for a trial period after which you have to pay to continue using it.

Thank you, Israel for this tutorial. Am looking for a video editor and this comes in handy. I was interested in Filmora, but the watermark in the free version cuts across the whole middle section of the video. And the paid version can cost quite a bit. I would rather buy a perpetual license but that is pricey at USD 69.99.

Thank you, Israel!
I loved this training because you certainly helped me to choose something according to my needs and expertise.
You have truly invested quite a lot of research and time to put this list together. I have worked with several programs you review and your comments are spot-on.
Amazing work!

ACK! First of all, your posts are AWESOME. The ACK!!! was because yet ANOTHER reviewer left out Debut that has some of the best free options available for screen capture videos out there. Check it out! (and no, I am in no way affiliated to or make a dime off of these people!)

I have Openshot on my laptop, I have not played too much with it yet. I have made several videos that I have just put online without any editing. I started this week making videos for a site that I made for another business. I will need to start using this week to get the videos online.
Thanks for writing up this list.

You're most welcome, Chris! Good to know you're already having the Openshot software downloaded right on your laptop computer. So exciting! You can look into the other editing programs on the list and make a good choice of a program for your video editing. Thanks for your valuable contribution!
