To get any results, you need to enter a broad keyword. Although I would recommend you look at other tools first, if you are willing to do some digging, you might find something that interests you.

This is a Google Doc tool that generates topic ideas for blogs right in the Google spreadsheet.

This tool pulls together information from Google News and Google Insights. It also includes Reddit, YouTube videos, and other sources to show you the most talked-about stories.

It provides outreach contacts for related topics as an added bonus.

Content Strategy Helper provides information on current stories, which is something that's different. These hot topics can influence your content strategy and make it easier for you to find newsworthy stories.

Although it is not a blog topic generator, it can be a good content tool to have. You won't get much if you already have your preferred tool for keeping up with news stories.
