Epiphany yet severely torn

Sitting on my deck this evening, enjoying the sound of wind chimes and my 2 year old pushing his little lawn mower around the table and chairs with gleeful laughter.

This thought just struck me. I want to narrow my niche down even more. My website has been about being a mom and everything that goes along with that: tips and tricks dealing with kids, stuff specifically for adults like health and exercise... but I want to get more narrow.

I want to help moms and dads that stay at home feel better about themselves. I want to help them feel good and glorious and pampered even if they only get 10 minutes every couple days to themselves.

So my question: do I just shift my existing website that has been approved my Google Adsense and has many affiliate links? Or do I start fresh from the ground up?

All comments welcome on this as I am severely torn!

Hi Angela
Does your URL lend itself to reflecting a brand?
If you think of it as a brand, you could shift direction and set up a new category to help define it.
That’s what I would do.
:-)
Richard

my url is mamaslittleone.com

I could shift it more to focusing on parents, with a slight category dealing with kid stuff. That way the website would still apply and be applicable.

Thank you for your advice :)

I'd say shift the existing site. Sounds like a great niche to narrow down into. Wishing you every success.

Tracy

Thank you so much! I believe that this is the direction that I am going to go in right now. Maybe it will develop later, but we shall have to see how it goes.

I attempted both after I took a break and decided to repivot after an epiphany as yours. So far so good. But that means more work; and unfortunately - if you dont have time but want both to work - more money spend on VAs. So shift the focus on the same site if you cant handle a new site now or do both if you can, either personally or with extra help

Just my two cents 👍🤞

Do you mean that you used the same site, or started another?

I honestly don't have time to do both these days, though I am working on streamlining my time so that I can apply more time to my site and I LOVE setting up a website and watching it grow. Maybe that can be my year end goal. We shall see!

Thank you!

I started another and kept the old one. And I agree, always do what works for you and what you can

Congratulations on getting a site where you have Google AdSense and you are happy with it.

Do you think you would be happy narrowing your niche? Would you prefer to continue along the way it is?

Do you have the time to devote to a second site right now?

If the answer is no, then you should narrow the niche, and/or keep the ideas for the second site separate for now and launch later.

Just my thoughts.

Alex

I don't currently have time to dedicate to a separate site, it would be either or. I don't want to lose the work that I have done so far, and I feel I could write a lot more genuine stuff that is engaging with a narrowing of my niche.

Thank you so much for your input :)

You are most welcome. I think you have answered your question. It looks like narrowing your niche (for now) is the answer.

What about setting up sub-sections for your site? A home page that gave your reader (3) subheadings - that way you narrow the focus under the subheadings, also you do not lose the broad base.

You can focus on one section and then occasionally add an article to the other headings as inspiration dictates.

I really really like this idea! I might have to play around with WP some to figure out how to do this... but it sounds like the best direction for me to go!

Thank you thank you :)

I hope it works for you.

Shift the existing site, it will be easier to do and you won't lose ground. Bring those people in on the general scope and open their eyes to a more confident them.

I like this idea. I think that I will try this. Maybe with a bigger focus on helping the parents with occasional kid stuff thrown in.

Thank you so much for your advice!
