Shake your handshake habit
So, what do we do?
The handshake says "good to meet ya" or even "see ya later" during face-to-face interactions. But the handshake also spreads germs. Always has. It's just different this time
During the coronavirus pandemic, handshakes have become fist bumps, elbow taps and other greetings that eliminate hand-to-hand contact but don't necessarily decrease transmission risks associated with coronavirus. Once people start filtering back to the 'real world', how will we interract?
I hear the handshake may not TOTALLY disappear, but it may be pushed aside by other ways for people to acknowledge each other. Dr. Anthony Fauci wants the handshake to go away. Totally.
I gotta say, I'm onboard with that.
So, if the traditional handshake loses its place in our new world what are the alternatives? I've listed five possibilities that have been mentioned here and there:
1) A SMILE - I like this one the best, as I almost always do it anyway
2) THE HEAD NOD - this currently is the way that many guys say 'sup?'
3) JUST SAY IT - easy enough, right? 'Hi there!' or 'Bye there!' (Freddy "Boom-Boom" Washington from Welcome Back Cotter style) Did I just show my age there?!?
4) A SLIGHT BOW - I work for a Japanese company, therefore interracting with Japanese all day requires some forward bowing. I can adapt this to my everyday life - I think.
5) NAMASTE' - this gesture involves pressing your palms and fingers together at your chest while bowing slightly. This may be MY pick as the new handshake. It's very loving and peaceful.
What do you think? If we met, say for lunch today (you're buying by the way - I paid last time) how would you greet me?
Namaste'

First of all we would meet in my garden- because I am broke and healthy is better fresh from the garden...I like the namaste idea as well. Left hand and the right hand coming together in love and peace toward our neighbor.
I will always go for a handshake....always have and always will. You can tell a lot about people by the firmness of their handshake.
Have a Great Day!

Thank you for the reply Chuck, but as you know, it takes two to shake. How would you react if the other person didn't offer their hand? Would that offend you?
Right now because of this "pandemic" I have been letting it slide...but yes it does offend me.

Some good ideas, Anthony, but I'll keep the handshake in reserve, especially since I'm not totally in agreement with Fauci.
Great post!

Thank you for the response! I see you're from Texas Jeff. Are you SURE you don't agree with Fauci? Okay, I get that. But Texas' virus numbers are out of control right now. Just be safe. For yourself and your family.
It's the youth, and the numbers are skewed because of how they determine what Corona cases really are. We'll wait and see what everything really ends up being since they really don't know what we have from one day to the next. There's also a small political component to all of this as well. My business has stayed open through all of this with no ill effects. If you look at death numbers every year for each annual pandemic, you'll find some very interesting facts.
