Google SEO Tips 2014 Book

I was in the newsagents the other day and came across a book "Google SEO tips 2014" and it immediately caught my eye. I picked it up and began to scan through the pages. There was loads of tips and ideas on how to get your website to be ranked and positioned well in the big G search engine. There were chapters on all sorts of SEO ideas, with Matt Cutts chiming in with his perspective on what is good and what is bad for SEO.

I have to say I was very tempted to buy the book then I noticed there was a chapter on rich snippets.and how to set it up etc. Well if you are up-to-date on rich snippets you will know that Google has done away with authorship and that nice image beside your domain in the search results. So that had me thinking that this book has a lot of good ideas and coming straight from Google would mean its ideal for getting ranked but then some of it is "OUT OF DATE"

As for rich snippets there are some aspects still available as in video images and review stars but the authorship has gone and all these things I learned here at WA. Now I know that training here can get dated too and if you search for Google authorship in this website you will get loads of training on how to set it up which is now not required. That being said there is usually someone around to say what is out of date or comments below the training stating something similar.

My thoughts on this are the book was priced at £14.99 which for me who bought WA at the yearly rate is one months subscription. If you were to pay for a months fees here I believe you will learn far more relevant information on how to build a website that has SEO that works well and also you will be kept up to date with new changes. A book however even from Google is only really relevant for a short period of time. So my advice to you no matter what website you are building sign up to WA to keep up to date with what is relevant in SEO technology and stay ahead of the pack.
