Narrowing Down the Niche Thing

This month has been a hectic and convoluted one, but I think I've managed to narrow down my niche-thing along the way. (Thank you, Rosana, for your bonk-comment last month. It helped me a lot, that.)

With a lot of sighing and moaning and other grinchy and grumbly exhalations, I've beaten my head against this stupid wall until I got to a breakthrough of sorts.

(Whoo-hoo! Here is me, making a hairline crack in that durned wall! Anytime now it's coming DOWN!)

Within the category of Self-Improvement, the one overall topic I most often touch on is the one about figuring out how to walk your own way towards your own dreams.

I'm not sure what that's called.

I suppose it could be called "wayfaring" -- walking along and getting to somewhere else just by moving your legs and taking steps one after the other while trying to stay aware of all the strange and wondrous things along the way.

It seems like a good way to hook up with other people's minds, that. It seems to make the ones I like to think of as my "true" audience sit up and take notice.

Maybe I could name it the "Way of the Maverick." Nah! That one kind of depends on you doing opposite or other than what the people around you are doing. That one's just a thing of style and not of substance.

Mavericks are all about walking different and I like it my own self (when it makes my kind of sense) but, what if you LIKE doing what all the other peeps around you are doing? What if that's the thing that rings your chimes?

Maybe I could call it the "Stranger Way." Nah! That just sounds stupid. And also it could be that, in their lives, some of the members of my audience are people who "belong" to their tribe in a good way and who do like it like that.

No way do they want to be "strangers." They probably get put-out if anybody tells them they're "strange."

They still might want to be more comfortable in their own skins, though, and I'm always working on that so in my life I have stumbled across lots of ways to go be better at doing a thing or two in my own way. Maybe they can relate to that.

Maybe I could call it the "Paradigm Path." Nah! For that one you have to do stupid mind-games that get you tangled up in abstractions and trip you up when you're trying to do real.

Been there, done that. Doesn't work.

Ya know, the problem with "ways" and "paths" and such is that most everybody who writes about them seem to want to brag on how they conquered their own challenges (that I very often can't relate to because I'm not them) and then they want to present THE one way in a one-size-fits-all kind of thing that is guaran-TEED to work all the time for everybody.

Yeah, right. Muumuus are just not my thing, okay?

Myself, I don't like telling people what to do. I don't like other people telling me what to do. I just want them to come out and play. I just want to encourage them to get good at being their own kind of gift to the world.

Hmmm....

Looking through the stuff I've already written, it does seem to me that most of my "adventure" stories in my blog, LIFE-BUILT POEMS: Living Out Loud, seem to be about me pulling hairs out about this whole, puzzling wonderment that is Life-Its-Own-Self.

I know. I'll call it "Whining On the Way." Hee! That one works for me!

Hope you're having fun. See ya!

An interesting read here.
Good that you have discovered your niche.
Wayfaring sounds interesting, and I wish you the best.

Muslimah, thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree that "wayfaring" sounds about right....

You are welcome.

Thanks for a great read, you have valid points and a nice writing style. What’s the saying , if the path is too easy your on the wrong path, your just following someone else’s dream.
Thanks
Stephen

Thanks, Stephen!

Ya know, I kinda believe that saying. I tend to go towards the things that make me stre-e-e-e-etch and pretzel out badly.

That means I get neck cricks, knotted muscles, a bunch of scratches and bumps as well as minor bald spots...and a whole tonne of really weird lessons.

The people I meet are very nice, but. That's good.

Hi Netta,

I hope you're doing well too! Yeah, coming up with a name is challenging. First, it must capture our interpretation of our niche. And secondly, we want it to resound with others as it does with us.

It's not easy. But thanks for sharing your process with us. Btw, great stories over there at Life-built poems.

All the best.

Henry, thanks for the encouragement. I do appreciate it!

Glad you figured out your niche. Now what kind of products would you sell to support the Wayfaring process?

Hey Jeannine....

Yup! That's the next one, right?

-- Netta

Yup, it's a critical part of the process. Find the products and find the merchants (not just Amazon because they treat their affiliates very badly).

Thanks, Jeannine....

Hi Netta!

I found that using the thesaurus helped me when trying to find another way to express an idea or thought. Especially when I could not find the words.

Then you have to check the keyword status, too...grin.

Whining on the way reminds me of jthe Christmas song, jingle bells...'Dashing thru the snow.. '

Rudy

Thanks, Rudy....
