Exploring incubation
An interesting month. I've been busy mostly completing pendings and long-term projects, fine-tuning systems that got wonky, making crisis response moves that lead to other interesting dilemmas and all the other achievement junkie stuff we all know and love.
And, in the background, as this is happening, I am also apparently exploring what Makers who study such things call "incubation."
Incubation is when you slowly take in all kinds of information in teensy-weensy bites and you let your subconscious mind roll the things around while you dash madly around doing other stuff.
It's like in between all the urgencies are little pockets of really good bits that would work well in my (still-pending) post in my River series. It's like every new addition adds some little bit of depth or the glimmer of another layer that enriches the thing.
It's feeling like kung fu again: You train slow so you can move fast (if you want to get accurate).
I remember my si'fu (teacher) used to make us do slow races. The goal was to be the last one to cross our training room performing a specific series of moves over and over again, very, very slowly.
It was my favorite exercise, that.
Now I am learning how to do it with my writing. Hee! This is getting cool!
Hope you're learning new stuff as well.
Happy Samhain or whatever....

Hi Netta
I know the feeling well, constantly incubating music in my head.
I wish I had the time to play it all! Lol 😎
