Got my Logo!

Okay so I am in a pretty good mood today to say the least. As you can see above my logo is finished. Just waiting for the high quality verions for the website and branding. This will be onine, on business cards, on hats and clothing and office supplies. I also at long last found an affiliate program for my line of business. It doesn't pay as much as traditional get out there and pound the pavement contracts, but the blog is really more about volume so the lower profit per account should be more than made up for in sheer volume and the amount of work that goes into signing up an account. In the end its all about being financially independent and setting my own course for life and this is a big step in that direction.

It's all Sales!

I am getting a little stir crazy right now and my internal clock is a bit off with staying in and social distancing. The bright side of this is that it gives me lots of time to think and plan. Last night I blew right past my usual bed time and spent a lot otime reading and thinking about business.

The concern for me has been translating my marketing structure to an online presence. Our poisition in the community has always been a handshake and a smile kind of thing. That's how we do business. A hand shake and a smile is a bit harder to conceptualize in the electronic world.

As I watched a youtube video on taking the long view of things I had that aha moment. It is still all sales. Even in the blogosphere we are always selling something. No matter what your niche is and how you monetize it nothing happens until the sale is made. The goal of our website for instance is to provide up front value in order to gain the confidence and trust of business owners. We want to have top of mind awareness at all times because our line of business is dominated by big banks that move at the speed of plate tectonics. Where the overall industry fails is where we shine. The processing industry is terrible about providing accurate information on the industry. We specialize in that. The industry is terrible at customer service. We excel at it. The industry does not focus on small businesses. We focus exclusively on small business.

The upshot for Laurel Payments is that all the things that make us different and successful are still our core values. Thise are transparency, honesty, and integrity. This hasn't changed. Only the medium for getting that message out has changed. So as I continue to write and get better at it I will start translating my sales process into an electronic form. This will look pretty much like what we do now. We provide value in the form of actionable information for business owners on the payments industry and in doing so gain their trust and raise their expectations of what this service should look like. When their current processor fails to measure up to this standard we all ready have their trust so it's just a matter of offering them a strong pricing structure and outstanding service that benefits both their business and Laurel Payments.

Thanks if you took the time to read this. I wasn't to keen on blogging here, it seemed liked an unproductive way to spend my time but writing is writing and to get better at it we must engage in it. It also helps tremendously to put my thoughts into a somewhat organized format that I can come back to as often as needed. I also think that cominng from a pure sales background fellow WA folks might find some value in seeing things from a pure sales perspective.
