Ever wondered what's the worst that could happen if you were to have your email account hacked?

Well here are some things to consider:

The moment you find out your pemail has been hacked, is the moment you need to IMMEDIATELY, change your password!

You may be thinkning, "oh its only email so I don't need to worry!"

Think about this, have you ever forgotten your password? What do you do to reset it?

Do these prompts ring any bells?

If a Hacker has access to your email, he or she can, unless you have Two Factor Authentication and / or other methods of security applied, reset all your online account passwords because your online accounts will, 9 times out of 10, email you a password reset!

So if the hacker receives that email........GAME OVER!

Can you imagine this? What a nightmare this would be!!!!!

You could potentially lose, online accounts, money, your business, friends and much much more.

Please, Please, Please do not let this happen to you.

Make sure you have a GREAT password.

Make sure it meets all of the following criteria:

At least 12 Characters or more

Upper letters

Lowercase Letters

Numbers

Symbols

Password Not used elsewhere!

If possible set up Two Factor Authentication

If you have trouble remembering passwords then that shows your password is potentially a good one especially if it meets all the above criteria!

Use a Good Passwor Manager to assist you and that will make your life simpler and more secure. A good Password Manager will have Two Factor Authentication for added security!

Keep the Hacker Out!

Hope this helps to secure your online life!

And the hackers are becoming very clever in their attempts as well. I recently caught a virus in an email address. I was about to add it to my email list and got a funny feeling as it was a strange address. So ran a check…and guess what…Bing Bing Bing…
So I couldn’t agree with you more..always use a strong password and change regularly.

Hi Stephen, thanks for the comment.

Yes you can never be too careful with those kind of attacks.

Always remember, If you are not expecting the email, triple check for the warning signs. :

Unexpected email?
Strange email address?
Bad spelling
Sender address different from the Senders Name?
Attachments which were not expected?
Language used from Auntie Flo is not in the usual tone?

All the above should be checked as a minimum.

Thanks Glynn for the fantastic reminder about how important protecting our passwords actually is!

I used to have the same password for virtually everything and it wasn't particularly complicated!

But now being in this business I have changed my ways some what as every other day I seem to need a different password to sign up with copious amounts of... well many many things!

But unfortunately I am still old school and write them all down in my little notebook!!

It's time to start researching a good password manager for me I think!! :-)

I use LastPass. I love it and it keeps getting better.

Hope this helps and thank you for your comments.

Lastpass... I have written that down in my little notebook and will investigate more tomorrow!

Thanks a lot for your help and advice my friend, and enjoy the rest of your evening in... I forget, is it Hampshire or Dorset??

1

I’m in Hampshire :-)

I remember you saying somewhere between Southampton and Winchester Glynn... so I had to have a quick stab in the dark!

My parents are both from Hampshire so I know the area a bit! :-)

Chandlers Ford 😊

Looks like a nice little place Glynn!

And I need to check on my geography, I always thought Winchester was in Dorset... how wrong was I!!

I obviously don't know the area as well as I think I did!!

1

Haha, no problem. I am not aware Winchester had moved but I will check!! :-D

All the best! :-)

Yeah...just double check that for me my friend, but I am pretty sure that you will find it where it should be!

All the best to you too Glynn! :-)

Thanks for the post! I definitely need a pw reset with this criteria. I've had the same one for years!
