Meet Brody
Hi Hoomans
My name is"Brody" and I am, for those that don't know, a Pedigree Black Labrador Retriever. I am a Gun Dog as opposed to a Show Dog. The difference being, Show Dogs are wider and bred for show and Gun Dogs are slimmer and were originally bred for hunting etc of which I don't do but I do love a run around!
I was born 6 months ago in a town called Winchester in the United Kingdom. You can find details here if you wish to take a look.
The Chosen One
When I was 8 weeks old, I was told by my mum that I had to make a very big decision and to carefully choose a Hooman family where I would like to spend the rest of my life in my forever home.
I had already seen some of my brothers and sisters all make this decision before and knew I had to make my mum and dad proud and make my own way in life.
One day, there was a knock at the door and mum ran to the window to and bark to say hello to the unknown Hoomans. There was a little hooman and two bigger hoomans. Mum was very excited jumping and leaping all over the sofa! I am surprised at her levels of energy considering that only 8 weeks ago she gave birth to all of us pups!!
Our Hooman mum went to the door and greeted the Hoomans and let them in and then it began..........
Cue the "awwwws", "how cute", "OMGoshes", anyone would think us pups were the best thing since bones!
Once everyone had settled down, I made a beeline for the small Hooman as he was so happy to be surrounded by us pups. I don't think he had a dog before and so I wandered over to say Hello.
I liked the little Hooman a lot and I heard him being called "Max" which I am sure was the Dog's name in Life of Pets so he must be a cool Hooman!
Anyway, we had lots of fun together and with the older Hoomans too. I was chasing some newspaper under the table and trying to escape my brothers and sisters.
"They say they choose you". The hoomans knew I liked them and the Hoomans confirmed that they wanted to choose a pup that selected them. This was music to my ears and they asked me if I wanted to come home with them. It was a pawfect ending to a very exciting day.
They Called Me Brody
Apparently my Hoomand took years to agree on a name for me even though I wasn't even born! They really wanted a Lab but had to make sure the timing was right apparently as us Labs are expensive and need plenty of Love and attention.
I love my name although sometimes I pretend not to hear them when it suits me! Woof Woof!
My Forever HomeI love my forever home, at first there were things to learn. There were so many things "To Do & Not To Do".
In the early days, I had to learn where I could go and do my business. This was dedicated area in the garden and when the Hoomans said "Busy Busy" I knew where to go and what to do and even got a treat for doing it, how cool is that?!
I also had to learn about a crate where I sleep. At first I wasn't sure but because of how exhausting Hoomans are at times, I settled in with no problem at all. I did hear the Hoomans say "We are so lucky he sleeps 7 hours in his crate each night without waking up." I was happy they have the same sleep pattern as me.
My Job
My Hooman Master has kindly let me become Chief Pup for his Startup company of which I will be the Editor in Chief for all the Blogs. Watch this space.
My GardenI love my garden, it has grass, plants, decking (great to chew on) and a pond with big fish and a waterfall.
At an early age, I was a bit of a wally and despite my Hoomans telling me to be careful, I managed to fall head first in to the pond whilst taking a drink! I got wet, very wet! I now just dig holes around the pond instead!! Woof woof!
My AdventuresHere's me and my Master out for a woodland walk.
My family take me out on longer walks now but at first, we had to be careful with my hips as Labradors tend to suffer with something called Hips Displacia and I could only go out walking for 5 minutes a day for each month I am old (3 months = 15 minutes).
My Favourite SnacksOMGoshes, I absolutely love Puppuccino's
My Favourite Toys
Patch is my Best Friend, he's always there for me to chew on, day and night.
My Favourite Foods
I'm a Labrador, I like everything I can get in my mouth! However Hoomans like to give me things like Carrots, Blueberries, Strawberries and other great things. They are very careful to make sure they are dog friendly though as some things can make me very ill indeed.
Thank you
Well, thank you for reading about me and I will be popping up every now and again to check in.
Happy New Year to you all my WAmily!
