How Do You Learn New Things?
I was sitting down having a cup of coffee pondering what I wanted to learn today and it got me thinking about all the ways we have available to us to learn new skills. How do you learn new things?
For example, we can read books, research online, watch videos online, tutor-led training and listen to audiobooks to name a few.
I find I learn much more when I am actually doing things whilst I am being taught. For some reason, it all sinks in better. However I also absolutely love listening to training and other content on Audio Books.
What is your best approach for learning new things?
Being here at Wealthy Affiliate, we are continually learning new things every single day of every single year that goes by. We are extremely lucky to have so much information available to us at a click of a button or two.
There is a wealth of information for creating a business venture from the bottom up with all the help you could possibly wish for. This, as you know, would normally cost a fortune if you were to have been paid for it separately or on any other platform.
For a start, Wealthy Affiliate benefits from a wonderful community, many of which become friends down the road. We have classes for all subscription levels from Free to Premium and Premium Plus.
The Free Training at Wealthy Affiliate is exceptional compared to other similar programs and in my opinion a no-brainer for anyone short on funds to begin with.
I mean, the Free starter subscription was a no-brainer for me when I started, I had nothing to lose, paid nothing upfront and away I went. Happy days, I have upgraded from Free to Monthly Premium to yearly Premium to my new home of Premium Plus and have not looked back!
How do you learn new things? Books, Audio, by doing etc? Let me know, I'd love to hear.
All the best!

I learn best by watching and doing. Youtube and WA instruction have really changed my attitude about learning. I used to read and try. It was slow and I had to keep rerereading. With video lessons, I can pause and go back 100 times easily. Many years ago, I developed a post secondary education program for a special part of the population. I called it the "action-reflections model. Folks tried things after watching for a bit and then review how it went. The program was pretty successful. I can only imagine how successful the program would have been with video lessons.
I agree, I never took to like reading books and like your good self, I had to keep re-reading things.
Video is so much better and doing things, this is how I learn.
Reading is good too but having the video option just adds to the subject sinking in.
Thank you for the comments.
All the best.

This platform is just amazing for learning in terms of what is offered, especially throughout the community. You've brought up an interesting topic, Glynn.
Years ago, I learned that people have different methods for learning...mainly auditory, visual or kinesthetic. We are fortunate to have so many different methods available nowadays, so that we can tailor learning to our own needs.
Cheers,
Susan
Thanks for the reply Susan.
Not sure what we would do now without all the tech.
All the best!

I agree I am so thankful and grateful for thus community. It is a true blessing! I learn best from books and videos but I do have to take notes in order to remember it all.
Yes WA, is a great place for learning new things and also you can learn at your own pace.
Than k you for your comments.

You make some very true observations here, Glynn! There are so many resources from which we can learn, and, IMHO, it all begins with being in Wealthy Affiliate!

Interesting subject and one of the good thoughts Glynn, I'm in my early sixties and I find as I get older I'm always looking at the opportunity with learning.
I was 58 when I had the first experience with FIFO going north in the middle of know where and learnt to operate rollers, frontend loaders, dozers, and a few more machines I was called a greenie Haha they thought at 58 it was a pretty good thing to achieve and especially when you come out of industries with gardening Haha.
I find now through reading, listening and doing I'm always learning and having an opportunity now to add another skill and a way of making money is a pretty good thing to have in front of all with WA.
Have a good day Glynn

Thank you for taking the time to comment!
Most of my reading is done looking at documentation online and not via books. I just cannot deal with reading books for some reason.
I am also a Doer and learn a lot by doing.
Thanks for the comments! :-)
